On Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th June, Dowdales School welcomed musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for two inspiring days of workshops with a group of Year 8 students.
The sessions were led by Michael from the RLPO as part of a special composition project. Students explored how music is created, experimented with different sounds and rhythms and worked together to develop their own original ideas.
Michael’s enthusiasm and creativity helped bring the world of orchestral music to life, encouraging students to think like real composers.
The experience did not end in the classroom. Following the workshops, Dowdales musicians had the exciting opportunity to take part in a concert at Barrow Town Hall. Performing alongside others in such a prestigious setting was a memorable moment for everyone involved and a wonderful celebration of the students’ hard work and talent.
Our ongoing partnership with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra continues to provide unique opportunities for young musicians at Dowdales, inspiring confidence, creativity, and a love of music.
