This week, Dowdales School came together for one of the highlights of the school calendar as students and staff enjoyed an action-packed Sports Day.
The whole school lined the track and field to cheer on competitors, creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. Students showed tremendous enthusiasm, encouragement and sportsmanship, with supporters getting right behind every athlete, whether striving for a personal best or chasing a place in the record books.
The quality of athletics on display and the times achieved was the best we have seen on sports day. Several outstanding performances saw school records challenged, with some exceptional achievements across the different year groups.
Congratulations to:
- Olly, who broke the Year 7 Boys’ Shot Put record with a superb throw of 10.08m.
- Charlie, who broke the Year 9 Boys’ Javelin record with an impressive distance of 42.63m.
- Henry, who set a new Year 8 Boys’ 200m record, crossing the line in 24.8 seconds.
- Isabelle, who broke the Year 7 Girls’ 800m record with an outstanding time of 2 minutes 39 seconds.
- Layla, who equalled the Year 8 Girls’ 200m record, matching the existing record with a time of 28.6 seconds.
These performances are a testament to the dedication and hard work our students have shown throughout the year, and they should all be incredibly proud of their achievements.
A huge thank you goes to our PE department, staff, student leaders and everyone who helped organise the event, ensuring it ran smoothly from start to finish.
Well done to every student who took part, encouraged their classmates or represented their form with pride. It was a brilliant day that showcased the determination, resilience and team spirit that make Team Dowdales so special.
