It has been a remarkable athletics season, with an incredible five new school records being broken by Dowdales students. These achievements are a testament to the hard work, determination and talent of our young athletes. Everyone at the school is immensely proud of their success.
A huge congratulations goes to the following students for earning their place in the Dowdales record books:
- Charlie English – Year 9 Javelin
- Charlie achieved a truly historic accomplishment by breaking a record that had stood since 1974
- Rio Delves – Year 9 Hurdles
- Rio produced an outstanding performance to set a brand-new Year 9 hurdles record.
- Thea McKenna – Year 7 800m
- Thea delivered a fantastic run to break the previous record set only last year by Ava O’Keefe.
- Isabella Scanlon – Year 7 1500m
- Isabella also impressed with a superb performance, breaking another record previously held by Ava O’Keefe from last year.
However, Ava was not prepared to give up her place in the record books entirely and responded in style by setting a new record of her own:
- Ava O’Keefe – Year 8 1500m
- Ava’s achievement ensured she remains firmly among Dowdales’ top athletes, reclaiming a record with an excellent performance.
To hold a school record is a special achievement, but to know you are officially the best Dowdales student ever in your event makes it even more memorable. Congratulations once again to all of our record breakers — a fantastic accomplishment and a proud moment for the whole school community.
