The visit provided a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about university life, develop important skills and begin thinking about the opportunities available to them in the future.
Our Year 7 students enjoyed an introduction to university and higher education, exploring what university is, what it has to offer and the different pathways available beyond school.
Year 8 took part in a key skills session focusing on critical thinking and oracy, developing their confidence in expressing ideas, asking questions and thinking independently, alongside an introduction to Cambridge University.
For Year 9, the session explored critical thinking and oracy in greater depth, as well as providing an insight into the Cambridge admissions process. Students learned about what applying to Cambridge involves and how they can develop their interests and stand out as prospective applicants.
Our Year 10 students focused on the importance of super-curricular activities – experiences and learning beyond the classroom that demonstrate curiosity, passion and a genuine interest in a subject. They also explored the Cambridge application process and how they can begin preparing for future opportunities.
It was a hugely valuable experience for our students, encouraging them to think ambitiously, challenge themselves and recognise that higher education could be an exciting possibility for their future.
A huge thank you to the University of Cambridge team for spending the day with us, sharing their knowledge and inspiring our students. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity and hope that the sessions have encouraged our young people to aim high and believe in what they can achieve.
