Bringing the Coast to the Classroom: Year 11 Master Mussels

We were delighted to accept a delivery of fresh mussels from the Food Teachers Centre through the brilliant #FishHeroes initiative. Our GCSE Year 11 students made full use of the produce, turning the mussels into a vibrant and aromatic Thai green curry.

A huge thank you to the Food Teachers Centre and all the supporters behind the programme.

The lesson was a fantastic success. Students were fully engaged, learning valuable exam skills such as knife work, sauce preparation and presentation. More importantly, they were able to try something completely new. Many had never tasted mussels before. Experiences like these help broaden their tastes, build confidence and deepen their understanding of nutrition, sustainability and where food comes from.

We are proud to share the results and grateful for programmes that help us expand opportunities for young people.
