Team is key to everything we do at Dowdales. We work together as one – looking out for and after each other. We believe that it is the way you behave when no one is looking that counts. We are up-standers; we are Team Dowdales.
Each year group has a team ethos as they work together and support each other in and outside of classrooms; we celebrate each other’s achievements together.
Each year group team is part of the whole team (staff and students together) where we are ambitious for all. Year groups come together through many enrichment activities and here they work as an ensemble; firmly living the maxim – “You never really understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” (‘To Kill a Mockingbird’).

The Pastoral Team
Students are placed in form groups in Year 7 after careful consideration and after speaking with students, parents and primary colleagues. These form groups are completely mixed and here they make friends for life. They remain in these forms for the five years they are with us in school and come together each morning to start the day before they split into their separate classes.

Friends of Dowdales
Our Parent and Teacher Association is known as Friends of Dowdales.
The Friends are a group of volunteers who strive to bring together the Dowdales Community; parents, teachers, friends of the school and the local community to raise funds to help support the school.
Every year they organise fundraising events helping to raise money for essential equipment and student awards.
