Examinations
Examinations are only one aspect of school life; but obviously one of great importance. Our moto here is that it is all in the preparation. We are clear that the constant revision of knowledge and skills allow progress; this is why each subject has a five year learning journey, where topics are revisited, linked and built upon. Students complete end of topic tests and end of year assessments so that the school can report to parents their grades in comparison to their ambitious targets.
By the time students reach Year 11 they will be well versed in preparing for examinations and will practice these at more regular intervals – in the autumn term, spring term and then their final examination in the May-June GCSE series.
Key Stage 3

Key Stage 4 Results
We are so proud of our students’ achievements; it was wonderful seeing their smiling faces on results day and know that our students leave us to go and follow their dreams. Students’ results must enable them to be whoever they want to be and their months/years of hard work has paid off when they open that envelope on results day in August! We are very proud of them.
The results reflect the good teaching at Dowdales and underline our high aspirations and ambition for every young person at here. Students have been ably supported by talented, hard-working staff throughout their time at Dowdales. Thank you to parents and carers who have supported their child through the exam period and with their exam preparation… it really is a team effort! But most of all we are very proud of each individual.

“Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years.”
