Key Stage 4

History GCSE consists of two examination courses: The History of Medicine from Prehistory to the Modern world, which looks at how medical treatments and theories have developed across the ages (35% exam in Year 11).

The second exam course is: The American West, which looks at the settlement of the plains and the conflict between the different people living and moving there. (40% exam in Year 11).

Students also have to complete a controlled assessment task based on a site visit to Quarry Bank Mill in Year 10 (25%). Students will develop and use existing skills such as research, planning, communication and source interpretation and will be equipped to pursue a variety of careers post-16.
