In Key Stage 3 students have two lessons of PE a week (two single lessons in all Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 lessons).
There is a set programme of study that includes many games including badminton, cricket, football, netball, rounders, rugby league, softball, rugby union, athletics, gymnastics/trampolining and orienteering.
Health and fitness is developed through the set programme and is also built in through set fitness assessment lessons throughout each year.
We primarily focus on skill development in Year 7, tactical decisions and planning in Year 8 and the analysing and evaluating of their own and others performance in Year 9.
In Year 7 students take part in activities in 6 week blocks with an emphasis on skill development. Activities include Football, Gymnastics (incl.Key Steps), Badminton, Netball/Rugby League, Athletics, Rounders or Cricket.
In Year 8 students take part in activities in 6 week blocks with an emphasis on tactical understanding. Activities include Football, Gymnastics (trampolining), Badminton, Netball/Rugby Union, Athletics and Rounders or Cricket.
In Year 9 students take part in activities in 6 week blocks with an emphasis on analysis and evaluation. Activities include Orienteering, Gymnastics (trampolining) and Fitness Conditioning, Badminton, Sports Education through Netball/Rugby/Football, Athletics and Rounders or Softball.
