At Dowdales students are prepared for their GCSE examinations from the outset. We have end of year exams in each core subject: English, Maths and Science every year, starting at the end of Year 7. This ensures that by the end of Year 11 when the examination season begins students have a real knowledge and experience of what it is like to sit in the exam hall and, more importantly, how you prepare for the exam situation.

All students from Years 7-11 are issued with exam timetables this is done through a formal assembly delivered by the Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteachers and the examination officer. During the assembly students are given key advice on how the exams will work and how you can train your brain to revise. Letters are issued to parents along with the exam timetables. Students are supported in their revision through structured activities during preparation for learning time.

All exams are marked by the end of term and feedback is given to students through subjects. All results are collated and used to inform groupings and interventions for the forthcoming year.
